About Our Quality Programs:
Our Soybean Breeding Program
In 2010, we enhanced our existing soybean varietal selection programs to include our own in-house proprietary soybean breeding program. Our new program answers the demand of growers and customers for new high yielding conventional varieties that meet the performance of genetically modified varieties. As over 90 percent of North American soybean acreage is GMO, there is an increased need for new varieties of non-GMO soybeans. At SunOpta, we plan to meet this need.
Our Quality Control
Our Group utilizes continual research, careful seed selection, grower education, grain and equipment monitoring, state-of-the-art processing and proper storage and handling to meet the highest quality control standards. Our vertical integration allows us to monitor and ensure the highest level of quality for every step of the process from field-to-table.
Our Third Party Certification
The Grains and Foods Group is third party-verified by numerous organizations, including AIB, SQF, QAI, HACCP and Kosher.
Our Traceability Integrity Program (TIP)
Our Traceability Integrity Program (TIP) makes it possible to trace a specific variety or type of grain to its origin. Valuable traits in specialized crops must be measured and tracked to ensure you will reap the benefits. This seed-to-table vertical integration process ensures crops are pure and allows for high levels of control over quality and food safety.
Sustainability
We consider sustainability at every level of our organization to protect and preserve natural resources for generations to come. We utilize sustainable agricultural practices, waste reduction, energy conservation and pollution control.
